The Challenge
The Minoff House is a large waterfront residence with extensive ground-floor living space, multiple entry points, and expansive glass openings facing the water. Its size and position were part of its appeal, and its greatest vulnerability. Every storm season brought the threat of storm surge and wave action reaching the home across a wide, exposed footprint.
With so many openings to defend and high-value interiors at stake, the owners needed protection that could secure the entire property without turning their home into a fortress.
The Recommendations
Flood Risk America conducted a full assessment of the property's elevation and flood exposure, then designed a custom flood protection system fabricated to each of the home's vulnerable openings. Because no two openings on the property were identical, every panel was built to exact specifications rather than adapted from stock sizes.
The system was engineered to withstand storm surge, wave impact, and debris pressure while remaining simple enough for the household to deploy ahead of an approaching storm.

Despite the scale of the residence and the number of access points, the system performed as a single, coordinated line of defense.
